Dixons raise mental health awareness
18th May 2018
One of this year’s key company initiatives is a focus on ‘Mental Health in the Workplace’. Dixons aim is to help all of our team change how they think about mental health issues, as well as encourage them to act if they notice a change in a colleague.
Our employees have access to Westfield Health who provide health and wellbeing support as well as a healthcare plan for each of our employees. Westfield Health offer an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), which includes telephone counselling, face-to-face counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. In addition, Westfield Health can help employees with a wide range of health and wellbeing issues, such as healthy eating, exercise and stopping smoking.
We are rolling out mental health awareness training to our management team to help them recognise warning signs in their teams and colleagues and teach them skills so that they can respond effectively.
The 2018 Mental Health Awareness week is focusing on stress and how it affects our personal and working lives. YouGov have stated that over 74% of people have at some point felt so stressed that they felt overwhelmed or unable to cope. The Mental Health Foundation have put together 10 actions to help us deal with stress, you can find them here.
